There was raw wool/fleece both processed and unprocessed (full of pee and poo!!!), antique wheels, yarn on cones, in hanks, wool from New Zealand and silk!! It was C-R-A-Z-Y!!! And this isnt all of it!

I'm working on a toe-up sock again...and determined to use up ALL THE YARNZ!!! I worked the sock on my trusty size US 2's and then 3 repeats after the heel, I switched to US size 4's to go over my enormous calf. IT WORKED!!!

OK...yes...I'm the most horrible blogger EVER. But look....my tweed cardi is like 97% finished!!! I finished the sleeve since this pic was taken and it's blocking right now. Just have the small decortive tab to add to the back and buttons and I am D-O-N-E!!! I always forget what an epic challenge it is to knit a sweater for myself...but then always love the results!!

A good friend had a baby recently and I wanted to send a nice gift to welcome the baby. I knit the baby kimono from (AGAIN!!!), a bib, and burp cloth all from Mason-Dixon Knitting on US size 7 needles with Peaches and Creme yarn in the color Countryside Ombre. I also made the umbilical cord hat from the Stitch n' Bitch book. She sent a pic to me and he's so beautiful!

From the book One Skein, I'm knitting this bag for the 3rd time! (I guess you can tell I like the pattern???) I'm using scraps again, some that I dyed myself with koolaid. The light purple on the top and pink and green variegated with grape and pink lemonade respectively. I knit a good chunk of the bag while watching the movie Insidious...good movie!

I finished the bathmat with NO YARN to spare...I wasn't even sure if I was going to make it thru the bind-off. I used Peaches n' Cream Cotton in White and Yellow that was in the stash on 10 1/2 US needles. The pattern is in the book Knit 2 Together and the only thing I did to change the pattern was instead of a M1....I did a YO. I didn't get to the size of the mat in the book but that's because I was just knitting until I ran out of yarn.

I also have been sewing a little and using the book Generation T: Beyond Fashion: 120 New Ways to Transform a T-shirt and making grocery/market bags....here's a finished one I used an iron-on on.

Aija and I spent the afternoon today planting tomatoes and cilantro. I've got a black thumb but since I've managed to keep the Valentine's Day plant alive, maybe there is hope for me after all??? I also bought rosemary, oregano, and basil but haven't had a chance to plant them yet.

Knit a hat for Adrian....I think it came out pretty well actually. It's stretchy enough to fit over her 'locs....but not so stretchy that it's slouchy. It's actually the 2nd time I've knit this pattern....I'm a MUCH better knitter now than I was then.

I've finished quite a few things in the last week or so....

This is a baby blanket for my knitting group's charity project...I used stashed Red Heart white yarn.

The Saroyan Scarf was a KAL for the month of February...I used Berroco Ultra Alpaca (a wool/alpaca blend) that I bought a few years ago in Pittsburgh.

I finished the March KAL....the French Market bag. I used Lion Brand Wool in colors Lemongrass and Winter White and felted it.

These were all stashbusting projects, which I am happy about! I'm trying to use as much stash as possible in the next year and see how much I can cut down. Now to tackle the sock yarn!

I have a sewing FO for show and tell today!! I picked this fabric up @ Walmart....it was on sale in the stuff that they are clerencing out. I guess they are gonna stop telling arts and crafts type stuff all together. That makes me kinda sad b/c after Walmart does that....the only place I'll have to shop for fabric @ will be Joann's or some of the more expensive quilting shops. I also learned that I'll be losing my favorite book store (Borders) and the home of my knitting group. Oh well...that is life, I guess. Anyway...here's the tote bag I sewed from that fabric. I also plan on making a little make-up/notions type bag with the leftover scraps; I just need to get a zipper or some other closure. What do you think???

Feb Lady Sweater

My knitting group is doing a KAL: The February Lady Sweater!!! This is the 2nd time I've knit this sweater and I have changed the pattern just a little bit to make it more flattering/interesting for me to wear and knit. I did 3 rows of garter to start off with and then a St st yoke. I'm also changing the eyelet increase portion to a M1. So far, so good! I'm also working on my January socks for my Self-Imposed Sock Club as the Yarn Harlot did last year. I'm using sock yarn I already have and pairing it up with patterns I already own or free patterns. I want to knit down my sock yarn stash which has gotten out of control lately and crack open some of these books I've bought over the last year but made nothing out of. January's sock is the Monkey Sock by Cookie A and I'm knitting it in Knit Picks Stroll tonal colorway Gypsy with is a pretty deep, almost blood red. I hope this works out; between the sweater and the sock, I'm not sure I'll be done by the end of January. Wish me luck!

Coffee Sleeves, anyone???

I finished a pair of Bella's Mittens! It's a pair of mittens that are based on the ones that Bella wears in the movie Twilight. I thought the movie was just so-so (as well as the book) so I'm no Twihard by any means but I thought the mittens would be oh so warm and stylish! I also did a cowl; another pattern I stumbled upon on Ravelry. I used Louet Riverstone Chunky in the color Neptune on size US 8 needles. Easy peezy lemon squeezy. :)

Dog Jacket

I bought the book 101 One Yard Wonders awhile back and flipped thru the pages to see what a quick project would be for a newbie sew-er like myself to get into in an afternoon. I had/have alot of fabric scraps lying around and I was trying to create a project using those scraps in a re-fashioned/recycled kinda way. Well here is the result....A dog jacket for my dog Poochie!!!

I started with 2 jean skirts of mine that where too small and hadn't been worn in ages. I'm sure I could have made the jacket with just one skirt but I was trying to not to get alot of the seams, etc that were in the existing skirt into the finished jacket. I can see a few mistakes I made (not pressing out the seams, and putting the velco on backwards lol) but I think it came out pretty cute!! I think I'm gonna save the pattern and maybe make a lighter weight version for spring/summer.

Thanksgiving has come and gone and I missed it (or missed blogging about it). My family/situation/relationship has shrunk and/or changed but the feelings remain the same. I didnt cook for nearly as many people this year as I did last year (just my daughter, my sweetie, Poochie, and myself) so it didnt take DAYS of cooking like in years past. Basically, I spent the holiday full of food and love surrounded by the people I care most about. But I know what you really wanna know about....WHAT DID YOU COOK?!

I made a ham, pecan pie, carrot cake, cranberry sauce (1st time), buttermilk biscuits, greens, mac n cheese....whew! It was great!

I have so many projects going right now I'm just not sure if I'm coming or going. I'll on the last hat for my neices and nephews (I had to do 9 total) so that it nearly finished. I've also been working on my purple and yellow quilt thingie. I already had it pieced together (and hand sewn in some spots) but since I'm a little better @ machine sewing now it's been going rather well. I should put it on the backburner actually since it has no deadline. I've also been working on the afghan that my mother has already claimed....it must be done by the 2nd week of December @ least so I have time to mail it out to her. But I guess I'm doing pretty well, most of my Christmas knitting is done. Unless I happen to cast on a few more things....lol

I'm working on alot of Christmas gifts right now....just trying to stay ahead of the curve. Right now, I'm doing smaller things like coffee cup sleeves (alot of my friends drink coffee; either Starbux or Tim Hortons, etc).

I've recently been giving alot of thought about the environment (mostly b/c of the BP business that's been in the news lately), about my carbon footprint and just being more "green" in general. I rarly use those plastic bags you get @ the grocery store anymore; I've got alot of knitted market bags. When I do have plastic bags, I use them as trashcan liners and to pick up poop when I walk Poochie. I figure, why buy bags to pick up poop when I can get them for free from Walmart? I've knit the Everlasting Bagstopper from knitty.com quite a few times; mostly out of cheap-o kitchen cotton like Lion Brand Cotton, Peaches n' Creme and a few balls of Rowan Cotton Tape I had lying around.

I also knit a few Swiffer covers....

I've also been making my own laundry detergent from a recipe I got on the internet. I'm hoping to just do my part in helping the environment and also making myself feel good by knitting, sewing and crocheting.

Even tho I've never worn a shawl and very bad @ following charts; I cast on the Shetland Triangle Shawl. I learned quite a few things with this project....

1. How to follow a chart

2. Provisional cast-on

3. Double decreases

4. Using life lines

This is before blocking....before I did the bind-off.

I also learned that although I didnt think guage was important in a shawl/scarf, etc it is. Because it is quite possible for a shawl not to fit. I used sock yarn (Noro Kureyon Sock in color S102), size US 6 needles and a crap ton of stitch markers. It was looking a bit small on the needles but I thought a severe blocking would fix that. Apparently not. I dont know what happened; I think I may have to pick out the bind-off and the edging rows and knit a few more repeats of the body chart.

This is it blocking...

In other crafting news, I've been sewing a bed for my doggie, Poochie. I knit a large, pillowcase sized square out of Lion Brand Wool-Ease chunky on size US 13 needles. I cut the pillowcase in half so I'll end up with cotton fabric on one side and knitted fabric on the other and sewed it up on 3 sides. Maybe I can even insert a zipper? We'll see!

My family and I took a weekend trip to the Niagara Falls/Nuffalo, NY area for the weekend and I stopped @ the Elmwood Yarn Shop in Buffalo. It's located @ 1639 Hertel Avenue in Buffalo and its a really nice shop. I bought this in a bag of discontinued yarn for $22.50 for 6 balls; a pretty good deal, I think. I'm not sure what I'm going to knit with it; maybe a top for my daughter? We'll see.

I also picked up some Roawn denim; a yarn I've been wanting to try for awhile. I got 2 balls of it for $14. The label says it will shrink and fade just like real blue jeans.

We had a really good time in Niagara Falls...I love it there this time of year!

I finally got around to opening my new sewing machine! I actually bought it quite a long time ago but was too scared to open it and try it out. I'm not that great @ sewing on a machine but I want to change that. Since it's getting so hot out, it's not very comfortable to have a lap full of wool/yarn (which is why my Mason-Dixon Log Cabin afghan is hibernating right now). I'm hoping to get a bit better with the machine and finish up some projects I've been wanting to do for awhile. I have a little fabric lying around and a bag I want to line so I'm going to start with that.

The price was orginally $100 @ Walmart ($130 @ Joann's for this model) but I paid $50 for it!!! S-C-O-R-E!!!

It does alot of cool stitches/buttonholes and comes with a DVD which is good for b/c I'm more of a visual learner and have a hard time with books/manuels. Thats how I taught myself to knit and crochet; DVD's/YouTube videos/KnittingHelp.com and then went back to the Stitch n' Bitch books when I had the basics downpat. Wish me luck!

I used Tahki Yarns Palma (a very pretty organic cotton that was gifted to me) in a pretty pink color. I used a little more than a full skein on size US 8 & 9 needles.

This is a pic of it blocking on a small mixing bowl. I used the mixing bowl perched on a candlestick holder to get the lace streched out and down so it would dry quickly.

And other pic after it was done drying and sitting on the table.

I really like the ring of darker pink on the crown. Once I got going (after ripping it out twice) it was a pretty simple knit. I'm tempted to make another in another color. What do you think, dear reader?

Adventures in Bread Baking...

I've been baking bread!!! A friend on Ravelry gave me this recipe and I baked a loaf over the weekend.

Here is my (in)famous basic loaf bread.

you’ll need a stand mixer with dough hooks, or a hand mixer..preferably with dough hooks. If you don’t have one with dough hooks, you can do part of it with the normal whisk attachment, and then the last part with a spoon.

3 cups flour
1 1/4 cups of warm water
1 pkg. or 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt

Dissolve yeast in the water, with the oil, sugar, and salt. Let it sit for a few minutes.

Mix in 2 cups of flour on low. If you are using dough hooks, do 2 1/4 cups. Mix for 4 minutes. Increase speed to medium, for 3 minutes. If your mixer can handle it, mix in the remaining flour with the mixer (if using dough hooks, you will have no problem at all). If just using the normal beaters..take away the mixer, and mix in the rest by hand with a spoon.

Let rise for about an hour. Stir the dough down (approx 25 strokes). Spread batter/dough into a 9x5 bread pan (greased). Allow to rise until about a half inch over the edge of the pan. Bake for 40-45 mins at 375f.

For those with standmixers. Super easy.

For those with a hand mixer with dough hooks. Super easy.

Anyone else..you can still make it..it just takes a little more muscle.

NOW, to break it down a little. You can use any flour with this recipe. I personally like two cups of whole wheat and one cup of standard bread flour (unbleached). You can do all unbleached bread or all purpose flour, or all whole wheat (red or white whole wheat). You can pretty much use whatever. Depending on the flours, you may need to add a little more water or oil. It should be more like batter than hand kneaded dough..but not watery like a cake batter.

Oil..I use coconut, or olive. Please use expeller pressed oils ONLY (for every day eating). If it’s not expeller presed, than it’s chemically extracted, and that’s all sorts of fucked up.

Sugar..use unrefined sugar, please. Or, 3 tbsp of honey, agave, or maple syrup, instead of 2 of cane sugar.

Salt: sea salt is my fav. yep.

I ran into a little trouble with getting my yeast to proof.

I think I ended up with a bad batch of yeast b/c the dough didnt really rise like it was supposed to.

I used my KitchenAid mixer with the dough hook for the kneading; no problems there. I actually let it rise for quite awhile (like 3 hours) and finally got tired of waiting and popped it in the oven.

Despite all that, I think it came out pretty well and it tasted good. Next time, I'm gonna fiddle with a few things and see how it comes out. Also, I bought new yeast. LOL

Garter Days

I took my daughter with me to knit night last night. I taught her how to knit a few months ago but it didnt really click until a few weeks ago. I've been letting her use scraps from leftover projects and she likes to sit in front of the tv and knit (mostly watching Animal Planet). Remind you of anyone?

Here's what I've been up to lately.

I made this hat (It's the Umblical Hat from the original Stitch n Bitch book) to match the blanket I made for my sisters unborn baby girl.

I've also been doing a little canning. I made dill pickles over the weekend. They have to sit up for a few weeks for maximum flavor/sourness so they are in my cabinet now.

In a burst of energy last night, I finished a bunch of UFO's. Alot of these projects were actually done and just waiting on buttons,sewing,etc.

I found out my sister is expecting AGAIN so I started on a care package to send to her. I knit the Big Bad Baby Blanket (again...this is like the 3rd or 4th time I've knit this pattern and I love it!)

I also knit 3 sets of baby bibs and burp cloths out of cotton yarn I had laying around. Stash busting FTW!!!

I also recently moved into a new house and knit some dishtowels and dishcloths for my new kitchen. More cotton being used!! I'm also knitting a lace kitchen curtain but it's not ready for pics yet, lol!

I'm also working on a plain vanilla St st sock in Lorna's Laces yarn in color Black Watch on my trusty US size 2 Knit Picks nickel sock needles.

So I'm back from Oklahoma (long story short, I went to attend a funeral) and I spent almost a week there. Of course, since the holidays I've been missing my family and BFF, so it was good to see them even during this time of grief.

Anyhoo, I did happen to do a little yarn shopping while I was there. This is Claudia Handpainted in color: Cotton Candy. Isnt it beautiful? I bought it @ Loops (www.loopsknitting.com) in Tulsa, OK. Check out that shop should you ever be in town. It's beautiful and filled to the brim with great stuff. And the staff is VERY helpful and nice. There were quite a few shoppers there knitting and browsing around; I had a great time while I was there.

I also stopped @ SWAK in the City in Oklahoma City (www.swakknit.com). Its actually right down the street from my BFF's house (Hi, April!!!) so it was easy to slip in and look around. I've been to this shop before and always feel like I'm home. I bought 2 skeins of Happy Feet in color 25 (a very pretty hot pink, green, raspberry color).

I also stopped by one of the big box stores and picked up some Sensations' Bamboo and Ewe Pattern sock yarn (is anyone noticing a pattern here? LOL)

Last shop I stopped @ was actually in St. Louis (What? I was in the neighborhood!). HearthStone Knits (www.hearthstoneknitsonline.com) was a small shop but BIG in selection. I picked up a few crochet magazines, the new issue of Knit Simple, and this beauty....

As for what kinda projects I've been working on? As you may well know, I always have a big project going, a sock and something in between. Well my BIG project is so big, I can't even take it to knit night anymore. I've been working on the Mason-Dixon Log Cabin Blanket.

I've used white, black, gray, denim and brown. I'm not so sure about how the brown block is going to work out; I may have to rip and pick another color. I'm actually knitting from stash (just about) and I'm using machine-washable acrylic/wool blends. I think this blankie will be VERY warm. I thought the all garter-all the time would be killing me, but it's actually moving along quite well.

I've also been working on the Kai-Mei socks from the Cookie A book; Sock Innovation. It's not much to look @ yet; I've just turned the heel and barely begun the chart. OMG, I can't believe I'm knitting from a chart! This is madness!

And yes, this is a pretty bad photo. It was taken on the whim; sorry! Anyhoo, I'm working with my trusty US2's and Cascade Heritage Solid in color 5619 which is, basically, RED. Very Red. Valentine's socks, anyone?

It's also dishcloth city @ my house right now. Here's the 4th of a series of Ballband Dishclothes, knit on size 7 needles with red and yello Peaches and Creme.

I've been a very naughty blogger. I've been neglecting my readers and I'm sorry. How about a FO parade to show you what I've been up to??

I've finished the Clown Barf socks. This is Red Heart Heart & Sole sock yarn, US 2 needles. My thoughts on this yarn: I'm just kinda so-so on it. The color repeats didnt; they were just kinda willy-nilly so I wasn't able to make the socks match. Anyway...here's a pic.

I also finished the v-neck top from Knit Simple's summer issue.

My thoughts: This top could have been a little longer in the torso. I don't like were it hits on my hips but since I've already sewed it together, what can you do, you know? Also, I used Lion Brand Cotton for this top and when I blocked it, the yarn bled a little bit. *shrug*

I also finished the Chevron Scarf That Wouldn't End from Last Minute Knits. And let me tell you...I started that scarf in March; it is NOT last minute knit.

I'm working on the Button Banded V-Neck top from the spring/summer 2009 Knit Simple. This is the back panel. I'm using Lion Brand Cotton on size 6US needles in Poppy Red. It has seed stitch on the hem and sleeves; I really like it but it is a mindless knit. Lot's of St st. Minimal shaping and a little seed stitch here and there to break it up. I love it.

I finished a pair of socks the other day and I'm just now getting around to putting a pic of them up on the blog. These are Lion Brand Magic Stripes sock yarn (which has been discontinued); Purple Pattern on US2 Knit Picks knitting needles, toe-up. This yarn is super wash wool; it's not as soft as a merino (I'm not sure what kinda wool it is). I'd call it a work-horse yarn; it does soften up a bit after its been washed a few times. If you remember the Bunny Puke socks; this is the same kinda yarn.

After sitting in my knitting basket for MONTHS waiting on me to sew on the buttons and sew the sleeves; my February Lady Sweater is FINALLY finished!!! Yay!!!

I don't actually like how it looks buttoned up; it looks too streched to me. I didnt actually plan on buttoning it @ all when I started knitting it. But like a dummy, I blindly followed the pattern and added the button holes, so I knew I would have to add buttons @ some point. Other mod's I made: Instead of 3/4 sleeves like all the others, mine is short sleeved. I also knit the sleeves flat and sewed them afterward. What do you think?

I went to my local WWKIP Day event and finished the toe on the second sock. I think it took me about 2 weeks give or take a few days to finish these. The pattern is easy to memorize; after you do that it just flys by!

I did a little more naughty yarn shopping this past week. Check out my new yarn! Of course there is beautiful Noro and Mano's Silk Blend. The red is a new yarn, or at least new to me; it's Cascade Sock Yarn. And the pink is Cherry Tree Hill in Blossom. It's so pretty in person; this is a very bad pic of it. I also finished a Headline News-boy Cap as described in Stich N Bitch Nation. The Gelato socks are complete also, I had to show them to my buddies @ SnB tonight.

If you don't recognize this cap; it's because I left the brim off of it. I thought I would like it better as a beanies but in actuality; I don't. So I'm going to go back and add it. I'll take another pic of it soon. Thats all for now kiddies! Happy Knitting!

I've been doing a little yarn shopping in the past week or so. I bought some of that Red Heart Heart & Sole sock yarn (with ALOE!!!). I haven't had a chance to knit it up yet but heres a pic of it anyway.

I also visited AC Moore and picked up some Lion Brand Cotton.

After that, a trip to Cultured Purl and picked up some more Noro Kureyon sock yarn in a very pretty pink color.

Fair Isle

I'm knitting fair isle! I can't believe it! I'm taking a fair isle class @ my LYS (Cultured Purl www.kniterie.com ) and the project for the class is a bag knit in the round. I don't have very much of it done but I'm very proud of myself. I also learned that while I thought I was an average knitter, I'm actually a VERY tight knitter. Guess who needs to loosen up a bit? The only issue I'm having is loosing my place in the chart. I'm VERY afraid of charts so this is a big step for me. Maybe I'll be able to do more advanced lace by being able to read charts. Anyways, it's very slow going b/c I tend to drop the color I'm not using and pick it back up later instead of trying to knit with 2 hands which I find VERY hard to do. Wish me luck!

I've been knitting socks and ordering sock yarn like a mad person. Here's a pic of my newest sock knit out of Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, color # S185 on size 2 needles.

I'm knitting these socks toe up using Wendy Bernard's sock pattern using the toe patch. I've also finished a pair of sock for my sweetie. These are Knit Picks Essential Tweed on size 2 needles (I knit most socks on 2's) in the color Marina.

The only thing I have to say about this yarn was, I hate tweed. It's not really the yarns fault; I just didnt realize how much I would hate knitting those itty bitty little flecks of color. I would have liked it more had it been a plain yarn; no tweed. I know this next time I order yarn from Knit Picks.

I know I havent posted in awhile; I've been so busy over the holidays etc. I have so many things to tell you. First off, I got a box from my Secret Pal over the holidays! I didnt get to take a pic of it b4 I went thru it and unwrapped everything. She sent some really great holiday yarns, a coffee mug, candies, and holiday cd's! Thanks Secret Pal!

I've also been knitting up a storm. I started the Feb. Lady Sweater @ the begining of the month. I'm calling it my early-january sweater over on Ravelry. Look up the pattern on Ravelry and you'll see how beautiful it is.

Here is a pic of it after I finished the yoke. You cant see it very well in this pic but I've completed two repeats of the lace. I can't believe I'm knitting lace. I'm using a crap load of stitches markers b/c I'm so bad @ counting but other than that it's coming along just fine. A little slow but other than that its great. I'm using Lion Brand Cotton-ease in the color Azalea on size US8 needles.

Also flying off the needles is this tea towel I knit out reg kitchen cotton.

I've decided to just give up on the button band for the CPH and just sew in a zipper. Yes, I let a button band beat me. So sad. I just want to be done with this sweater so I can wear it! If I wait too much longer it wont be cold enough for a wool sweater.

I said I wasnt going to put myself thru the craziness of trying to knit everyone a gift this year and with it being less than 10 days from christmas, I'm still knitting the Fiber Trends clogs. It seems that everybody and their mama asked for a pair of these for christmas. Here's a pic of my latest pair pre-felting...

As for the CPH button band...I'm still working on it but I had to put it down in order to finish Christmas knitting. I'll get back to it in 10 or less days...LOL I still have plenty of winter to wear it. Don't laugh!

CPH Update

Well I tried to knit the buttonband the way the pattern wrote it and for some reason, it was too short. It was pulling in the sides the way that no blocking in the world would fix. So I had to rip it out. A moment of silence, please. Thank you. So now I'm casting on all 394 stitches AGAIN and knitting it seperatly and then I'll sew it on. Thats the only way I see this working out @ all. Wish me luck!

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I dont really care for the squeaky acrylics...some of nice however. I love felting to wool is a must for me. I love sock yarn too.

I've completed a few projects in the last few days. Here's is the Irish Hiking Scarf I'm knitting for a swap buddy. The color looks red in the pic but it's actually a burnt orange color.

I also knitted myself a felted knitting basket. Here's a pic of it blocking on top of a mop bucket.

I'm working on ANOTHER pair of the fiber trends clogs. This time the ladies small for my SO. This time I'm using Lion Brand yarn. It felts nicely; I cant wait to finish them. I need to get working on CPH since all I need is a button band on it. Send me good CPH knitting vibes!

IMAGE HEAVY!!!

Well fall is offically in the air now. I spent the day with the family @ Mason Farms. (www.masonfarms.net ) There was a pumpkin farm, a corn stalk maze and lots of fun things for the kiddies to do. Here's a pic of Aija with her face painted. It says Boo!

Mary and I also went thru the maze with the kids.

Aija got a chance to go thru the petting zoo and pet some really hungry goats.

We didnt get a chance to pick out any pumpkins (they are cheaper @ Walmart) but we drank alot of cider and had a good time enjoying the day. Mason Farms is a good place for produce shopping (it's a farmer's market); I should have bought some apples for apple pie but I didnt even think about it until we left. Oh well. Good times were had by all!

I had planned on making these as Christmas presents for the family but since everybody needs a pair like RIGHT NOW I guess I'll have to knit something else for Christmas. This is the men's medium; Paton's Classic Merino in color Red and Black, US 13 needles. I'll post a pic of after felting.

So the clogs are done and I've started the second pair. In this pic, they are drying and stuffed full of walmart bags. I accidently knitted up the WIDE men's size and had a problem trying to felt them width-wise. Other than them being a little too wide, they came out nicely. Nice enough for me to attempt a second pair for the oldest boy.

So I'm knitting the Fiber Trends Felted Clog for my step-son, who wears a size 12 shoe. Do you KNOW how big this clog has to be in order to felt down to that size? Well here's a pic for you to check out! I'm using Paton's Classic Merino Wool in color Forest with size US 13 needles; double stranded as per the pattern. This pattern is pretty simple to knit, you should try it!

Also, still on the needles is the Brea Bag. All it needs is a strap, but I've kinda stalled out on it because I got started on the clogs. Because thats the kinda pattern hussy I am, thats why!

I've been feeling very domestic lately now that I'm spending more time indoors with the weather cooling now and all. I went out and bought a new crockpot.

My old one just wasnt big enough to hold enough food to feed my larger family. The only thing I ever cooked in it was chili and there was never enough. (Big chili eaters in my family!) I want to be able to put a roast, etc in there in the morning and come back in the evening and dinner being done. Hence the need for a new crock pot.

I also bought a crap load of granny smith apples to make pie and apple butter with.

Here's a pic of my pie b4 it went into the oven. It has that crumbley, brown sugar-y, stresel topping on it.

As for knitting, thats getting more and more cozy these days too. I'm almost done with the Brea Bag; the front and back are complete. It just needs a gusset and handles and it will be done. I've also started on a pair of Fiber Trends Felted Clogs for my step-son. They are going to be a Christmas gift, I think. I might as well get started on my Christmas knitting; hopefully I haven't started too late. Alot of the stores have the Christmas decorations already out! Yes, it's that time of year i love so much; fall and winter. Time to break out the big knits!

Just in time for weather too cool to wear it in, I finished the Cherry Bomb Tank!

Details: The yarn was Soy Naturals from Bernat; a soy/acrylic blend on size 4 and 6 US needles. The color is Seasalt, a very light blue clor. I added a single crochet border to the neck line to tighten it up a bit. The yarn can be a little slipper/splitty but other than that it was a pleasure to knit with.

Also on the needles is the Brea Bag.

I've never done a Norah Gaughan pattern before and this is going a bit slow for me. I'm using Red Heart Soft yarn in Cherry Red on size US9 needles. I don't know why it's going so slow, it just is. Hopefully I'll be done with it in the next few days.

Also on the needles is this...

the Odessa hat. You can find it on ravelry. I'm knitting it on us US6 needles with Debbie Bliss cashmere/cotton blend. 85% cotton and 15% cashmere. It's soft and shows stitch definition well. This is a beaded, fitted cap that I'm actually knitting without the beads. Lot's of these have been knit on Ravelry, too. I'm surprised I never saw this pattern b4 b/c I love fitted caps like these. I've made and bought lots of them. More pics to come soon.

Also on the needles is still the Cherry Bomb tank. I've stalled on this tank b/c I know the weather is changing and I wont be able to wear it b4 next summer. The other one I knit is out of an alpaca/wool blend (yea I know...a wool tank top?!) and I wear as a vest in the winter over a shirt. I think I'll do that with this one too at least until it's warm again.
